The eCart object and my database

I'm just starting to learn the process to make an ecart work on my website. I am using an Access database and Coldfusion. I have Dreamweaver 8 and I have used recordsets from my database for data manipulation on my website - but I'm really not much of a programmer. I mostly do 'copy and paste' programming from other instructions. So I figured that eCart would be the easiest way for me to add a store to my website.

I seem to be missing something here ... I assume I need a table in my database to hold information about my products. But, the eCart object already has 'columns' defined. Don't I need to link them to my database somehow? How do I get the actual items to appear on a product page with 'Add to Cart'? Do I need DataAssist for this?
