Using eCart to Pass Item Info to Form

It is my understanding that when a consumer clicks on an 'add to cart' button, the information pertaining to the item is being directed to the cart.

In my situation, visitors to my site are adding workshops to the cart for purchase. I also have a registration process by which the visitor, after clicking on the 'add to cart' button is directed to complete a brief registration form.

Is is possible for the workshops information to be passed to the registration form, such as the name or title of the workshop so that the registration form documents which workshop they (visitor) is enrolling in?

I would imagine that the process is the same as with the 'add to cart' button passing the item's info to the cart?

Also, if it is possible, would you be able to explain the process using eCart?
