Site import: links seem to be dead

I just imported a site and I am trying to run it on my local Windows 7 computer.
The site is a coldfusion one, so many of the files are index.cfm, etc.

However, I am not trying to receate the functionality of the site using a testing server; I just want to experiment with the look and feel.

However, when I click any link on the page, even though those links now seem to point to local versions of the webpages, nothing happens when I click a link, and I get to error messages.

I must be doing something wrong that is very basic, as I have used site import before and was able to have working links on a page.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mark
