eCart - The Cart Is Empty

eCart - The Cart Is Empty

I have followed the tutorials of implementing eCart. I'm not using a payment Gateway, and purely sending the order by e-mail. Everything is working perfectly on my local testing server.

However, on the live server I am getting inconsistent results. On the product page, when I click on "add to cart" I am redirected to the cart page with an error - the cart is empty. When clicking on the back button to the products page and I use the search functionality, and then click on the "add to cart" from the results products, I do not get the cart is empty error. When I click to continue shopping and select another item to the basket, I only get the latest product listed. Not the previous item added to the cart.

I believe the above errors are somehow related to another error on the same page, being: search by category and keyword. I have posted the error on the DataAssist Forum.

I have included my working files and look forward to some feedback and solutions.

First thing to check is the hosts session management.

use the session test page from the following thread to make sure that the server is set to properly save session variables:
showpost.php?p=23826&postcount=2

if the session test fails, it is most likely a bad session.save_path setting in the servers php.ini file that will need to be corrected by the host.

The session test did fail.
Spoke to host who are currently checking the problem

Thanks

session problems

Hi Jason,

I've implemented the session test on the server.
sessionTest.php

There is certainly a problem so I've spoken to the hosting company about your suggestions. They claim it is working with all their other sites. Yet when I test using the above URL, clearly there still is a problem. The hosting company have sent me a php.ini file which I have attached. Not sure if they know what to look for.
Kindly have a look at the attached file and recommend changes as needed. Much appreciated.

Another problem I'm experiencing is that my product details page does not display on the live server. Yet on my local testing server it displays perfectly. Could this also be related to the above session issue?

Thanks Jason
