Don’t want product options?
If the products you are selling do not require product options – you are done adding this product. To start selling online, make sure the Available Online is selected for each product you want to sell.
Creating product options
By applying product options, you can sell multiple variations of the same product, such as different sizes or colors.
- In the Administrative back-end, choose Products > Find Products.
- Search for the product you wish to add options for.
- Choose Update beside that product.
- Depending on whether you want to add Advanced or Simple Options, choose the appropriate button.
- In the Add An Option field, enter a product option.
For example, “Color” or “Size”.
- Click Add This Option.
When you add an option, you will be prompted to enter a default Value (see Adding values below). The product option will then display on the right hand side of the page where you can add additional values.
Adding values
Product options are broken up into different values. For example, a product option for Size, might have values such as Small, Medium, and Large.
- Enter the Value within the Add Values To field for the product option you are adding values to.
- Click Add This Value.
- Once you have added all the options you need, you can click Finish.
What is the default value?
The default value will be the values that are specified by default when a customer views this product in the product catalog. To change the default value at any time select this value from the Edit values area.
NOTE:Deleting the default value has been disabled to ensure that your product will display on your product catalog. In order for any variations of this product to be available on your store, the default value must be set to available and have an inventory greater than 0.
Adding Conditional Options
Conditional Options can be applied to any Advanced Options combination. Follow these steps for adding a Conditional Option.
- From the main navigation, choose Products > Find Products.
- Choose Update for the product you wish to add a Conditional Option to.
- From the Options displayed, choose from the options menu lists, the specific option settings that the customer will select for the Conditional Options to display.
- Click Add Conditional Options.

- Create the Conditional Options as you would any other options.
- When adding a new option, you will have two options:
- Select value from a list
- Allow the user to enter a value.
- If you want to display a text field for your customer to enter a custom message, choose the second option.

- Click Submit when ready.
Making products available
Now that you have added all the different options and values for this product, you need to determine which variations of the product should be available on your store. PowerStore gives you the ability to do this two different ways:
- Through the Manage Inventory interface
- On the Product Update page.
Using the Manage Inventory interface
The Manage Inventory interface allows you to quickly make variations of a product available or unavailable and update the inventory for each variation.
- From the main navigation, choose the Products option.
- Beside each product that has options, a Manage Inventory button is available.
- Clic the Manage Inventory button for the product you wish to manage inventory for.

NOTE:If your product does not have any options, you can use the
Product Update page to manage inventory and make the product available.
The Manage Inventory page contains two columns. The column to the right contains all the different variations of the current product that are not available for sale at this time. The left column displays all options that are currently available for customers to purchase on your site.
- To make an option available, select the option from the right column.
- Choose Make Available Online.

- Choose whether you would like to update your inventory for that option.
- Keep existing inventory: Will maintain whatever inventory currently exists for this option.
- Unlimited Inventory: Will change the inventory to be unlimited.
- Specify product inventory: Allows you to enter a new inventory for this variation of the product.
- Click Make Available.
NOTE:You can select multiple product variations to make available at the same time by holding down Ctrl when selecting each option.
The Product Update page allows you to modify all the aspects of your products, including update inventory, make available for sale, and changing product details for your different Advanced Options.
- From the Product Results page, choose Update for the product you wish to update.
Now that you have added product options, menu lists will display at the top of the page for each variation of the product.
- From the Options menu lists, choose the variation you wish to modify.
After making a selection, the content in the fields below will update to reflect the settings for that particular product variation.
NOTE:You will need to select each variation that you wish to change. However, the values specified by default will be from the original product you added for this item, likely saving you from having to make many changes.
- For each product variation, change the values to suit your needs.
Example 1: If you sell T-shirts, you may charge more for the Extra-Large version. Therefore you should add the updated price to each variation of the Extra-Large T-shirt.
Example 2: For products that come in multiple colors, you may want to display different images when a customer selects a different color.
NOTE:Only Advanced Options can have different product details or inventory.
- If you are ready to sell the selected variation of this product, make sure to select the Available Online checkbox.
- Once you have completed making all your changes, click the Update This Product button at the bottom of the page.
What to do next...
Continue to populate your product catalog until you are ready to go. Once you have completed populating the catalog, you can start selling. Make sure you have properly configured your payment gateway information and turned off Test Mode before you start selling online.
