Do I need to own Dreamweaver to use eCart?
Yes. You will need Dreamweaver 8, CS3 or CS4 to run eCart.
Do you offer a trial or demo of eCart?
WebAssist does not currently offer trials or demos. Instead our software comes with a 15 day money back guarantee.
Can eCart be used without any coding knowledge?
Yes. eCart can be used without any prior coding experience/knowledge.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic shopping cart?
Static shopping carts do not require a database to tie your products to your cart. When creating a static cart, you will need to create individual pages for each of the products you are selling. Dynamic shopping carts utilize a database to store all the product details.
Can eCart be used as a static shopping cart without a database connection?
Yes. eCart can be used without a database however you will still be required to select a server language for the pages that eCart will create.
Why would I use a dynamic shopping cart rather than a static shopping cart?
Dynamic (database driven) shopping carts are particularly useful if your online store has many products or will need to be updated regularly. By storing your product information within a database you will be able to insert, delete, or update the products contained within your online store simply by making changes to your database rather than to the actual pages on your site.
Does eCart include the ability to create catalog pages?
eCart cannot create catalog pages, however WebAssist has developed another product called DataAssist that can be used in conjunction with eCart to create product catalog and detail pages.
What type of administrative back-end does eCart include?
eCart does not include an administrative back-end. Instead, eCart is providing you solely with the shopping cart functionality for your website i.e. buy now buttons, the checkout pages, payment gateway connection, etc. With DataAssist and other tools in our Web Developer Suite you can create an admin back-end for eCart.
What are the differences between the four different cart types provided?
The Updateable cart design includes quantity fields, making updating orders straight-forward. The Read-only cart can be used to simply display a purchase confirmation, where no additional modifications can be made from the cart. The Quick cart design, allows you to easily display the status of the cart anywhere on your site. Lastly, the Email-friendly cart is designed with minimal styling, making it compatible with most email clients.
Can you use eCart with languages other than six mentioned in the features list?
Yes. Outside of eCart you can create your own custom buttons to support additional languages if needed.
Will eCart work with payment gateways that are not listed as supported?
Yes. eCart can be modified to tie into other payment gateways however you will need to be comfortable hand coding this connection on your own as WebAssist will not support such a custom integration.
Can eCart be used with multiple payment gateways?
Yes. With eCart you can give your customers the ability to pay via PayPal Express Checkout (allowing customers to pay with their PayPal account) and with credit/debit through another payment gateway.
Can eCart be used without a payment gateway?
Yes. eCart can be used without a payment gateway for offline payment processing.
Can the design of eCart be modified?
Yes. eCart comes with a number of pre-designed CSS styles and layouts to choose from. You will also have the opportunity to select a Dreamweaver template to be used when creating any eCart pages. After creating your pages with eCart, you are free to make any modifications to the design that you like.
Can eCart be used with shipping providers other than those supported?
Yes. eCart can be modified to work with other shipping companies however you will need to be comfortable hand coding this connection on your own as WebAssist will not support such a custom integration.
Can eCart be used with multiple shipping providers at once?
Yes. eCart can be customized to work with multiple shipping providers at the same time.
Can eCart be used with any currency?
You can define your eCart to use Dollars, Euros, Pounds, Francs, or Yen from the default list or you can specify your own symbol in the custom currency field.
Can eCart be used with multiple payment gateways?
Yes. With eCart you can give your customers the ability to pay via PayPal Express Checkout (allowing customers to pay with their PayPal account) and with credit/debit through another payment gateway.
Does eCart support multiple currencies for a single shopping cart?
With eCart you must decide on a single currency for each shopping cart.
Does eCart support products options; i.e. variations of the same product?
Yes. eCart has been developed to support as many custom product options as you like.
How many product options does eCart support?
eCart supports up to 99 product options in your shopping cart.
Can eCart sell physical goods, digital goods, services, or accept donations?
Yes. eCart has been developed to support as many custom product options as you like.
Can eCart be used to sell subscriptions?
Yes. eCart can be used to sell subscriptions i.e. a one time fee for a magazine subscription. However, eCart does not currently support recurring payments.
Does eCart provide the ability to create recurring payments?
eCart does not provide a mechanism for recurring payments. However, you can modify your cart to include this functionality. Since this is not a built-in feature you will need to be comfortable hand coding this connection on your own as WebAssist will not support such a custom integration.
Will eCart run on HTML pages?
No, you must choose one of the supported server side languages to work with eCart. However, if you currently have a static HTML site you can incorporate dynamic PHP pages to be used as the shopping cart in conjunction with your HTML site.
Can you manage your inventory with eCart?
No. eCart is a shopping cart where you can add or remove products to purchase. Inventory management and control would need to be created outside of eCart.
Does eCart support discounts/couponing?
Yes. eCart does provide the ability to apply discounts and a couponing system can be easily created from within the eCart Object wizard. Please refer to our eCart Solution Recipes for details.
