How many characters can the text area manage? Is there a screen shot of how the database table is organized?

Looks great!

The description and title are limited to 255 characters by the database, but if you change the database column to text, this should remove any limitations on character size. The database has 3 different tables in it that stores information about the gallery, information about the image and the settings.

I really need to be able to have some larger descriptions in the galleries. I would be grateful for a more detailed explanation on how to achieve this. Perhaps the first person who posted has solved it now? Thanks.

I've not set it up yet, but I understand what to do. After the database is created, or while creating it, instead of the field for the text as a varchar set to max of 255, set to text field and it will be unlimited characters. This is done in the database itself, not in the gallery settings.

Thanks to the last poster – but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any clues? Is there anything else in the database I have to change?

When changing it to text in the database, you will have to also remove the length of 255 for that column.

Thanks for all your help. What I was doing wrong was to be changing the description field in the settings table. The correct table to affect is the gallery_images.

It now works beautifully as I wish.
