Trouble with the Themes

Trouble with the Themes

So, I was pleasantly surprised to see the "Edit Theme" button in the theme choice window, and I spontaneously clicked the edit to a theme I didn't have installed, I later realized. It showed the theme I /did/ have installed in the preview pane, but it didn't update the preview no matter how many changes I made. (A few attempts at font size changes and a header with an upload).

I ended off by clicking OK, but I got "Internal Server Error". The end result, I am stuck with the theme I was (accidentally) editing, as no other theme can now be selected.

Please advise.

Sincerely,
Eric Conover

Here's the text of the Server Error

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@ofthefield.avinstallsupply.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.41 Server at ofthefield.com Port 80"

Some MORE data

Sorry, it keeps trickling in.

After my last attempt at a theme change and internal server error which I captured for my last post, I logged back into the themes page and "Voila", my theme was changed back to the original. When you click the new default theme, the highlight doesn't happen, either.

Attempting to change the header image of the current theme also produces no change in the preview (though I can tell it's trying by blinking), and a crash on saving.

The error is displayed on page unload.php
(ofthefield.com/resources is the installed directory.)

Finally, the header change doesn't stick, but the upload of the image works.

Who do you host with?

That is an odd page to throw an error. All that page does is unsets the session variable used to keep track of the theme you are currently editing and redirects you to the admin design page.... here is the actual code for that page (it is only 3 lines of code):

<?php
if (!session_id()) session_start();
unset($_SESSION["PS_EditTheme"]);
header("location: ../../../admin/design.php");
?>

I can't imagine how that would cause the error it does on your server. I'm thinking it has to be an issue with the php server itself and how it handles sessions, but it is hard to say. I'll open a support ticket and we can give you a call and try to help you debug it directly.

This appears to be an issue with the permissions on the folders created by powerstore. Several users have corrected the problem by changing the permissions manually in their admin. I'll open a support ticket so that we can work with you directly to diagnose and fix this issue.

Edit Theme Error

Hi there,

After installing PS 4 and changed the permission folder (webassist), I have the same issue, have you fixed this bug?

We have not found a solution for this problem yet. Currently some users will need to update the file permissions manually. The only solution may be to add a step to check those permissions in the install and automatically prompt the instructions on how to update it.
