If all the files are on the server, then you should be redirected to the installer which will take you through the necessary steps. What are you seeing on you go to your index page?
Are you with 1&1.co.uk or 1&1.com?
The UK version (extraordinarily) does not provide you with a database for the '1&1 Beginner' or '1&1 Home' packages. You get a database if you sign up for the '1&1 Business' package.
What reason did the tech support give for their assertion that PowerStore could not be run on their servers?
This is ther answer I received from 1and1. I have a Shared Hosting Plan with 1and1.com.
"We understand how you would need support on this however please understand as well that this is not feasible in our Shared Hosting plan.
There is no option in our system to collaborate with another application (PowerStore)."
Hi Jay,
The answer you received may just be a reference to I&1s policy on providing support for 3rd party applications, not necessarily saying that it won't run.
Are all the files and folders of your PowerStore in the root directory of your remote site?
What happens if you navigate directly to:
www.yoursite.com/install/index.php ?
Nothing happens when I go to my site. It has been a while since I used 1and1 to build a site. My site is not published yet and I cannot get access to it from the Control Panel. Do I need to publish my site before I get access to PowerStore?
Hi Jay,
Sorry - I'm a little confused, I thought that you had uploaded PowerStore to your remote site (with 1&1).
To run PowerStore as a 'working' store, yes - it will need to be uploaded to hosted space on a remote server, - WebAssist recommends 1&1 as a hosting provider - so you may just need to renew or re-activate your hosting plan to get going again.
If you just want to get used to PowerStore or do a little prepatory work on it, you can install it on your local machine provided you have set up a testing server and can process dynamic (PHP) pages. If you could let us know a bit more about your situation/setup perhaps we can help out a bit more easily!
in Domain Overview it shows my site domain (as a link), Type is 1and1 Domain, Desination is Web Space (/.), Status is Ready
When I click the domain link it takes me to this:
Domain name (my site).com
Status Ready
Document root /homepages/21/d159868876
Domain is Additional domain
My complete Web Server Path is /homepages/21/d159868876/htdocs/.
So I uploaded PowerStore to my domain.com with the destination as / - is this where I am supposed to upload it to?
Now, how do I get to my site to run PowerStore?
I have a Business Package with 1 and 1 with a couple of domains.
