Custom styles not showing up in HTML Editor 3

I've changed the style settings to my own stylesheet file in HTML editor 3, but I'm still seeing the default styles listed in the editor on my page. I'm not new to this, I've been using HTML editor 2 for a while and have no problems getting my styles to display in that version.

Anyone experienced this problem with v3 of HTML editor?

I have spent the entire evening trying.
I will wait for the first stable release.

Styles that apear in the styles list are defined in the styles interface and not imported from a style sheet.

This may just be a misunderstanding of the functionality.

When you add style sheets, that just effects the body of the editor itself and not the styles available from the styles dropdown. Styles in the dropdown have to be added separately from the styles interface one at a time.

I think it would be great if in a future update we could simply select styles to import from a stylesheet. Adding each style and each attribute by hand initially is very time consuming when using larger stylesheets. Is there a way of adding all attributes for a class at once? Or is there a file we could copy and paste styles into directly in code without using the HTML Editor GUI?

So would you want all classes added, but only simple class definitions? What if your css class was nested? What if it was applied to a specific tag? What would you want to show as the name of the class in the list?

You could have classes like:

.main .inner .content {
}

or

h1.highlight {

{

or

.errorText {
}

or
#bodyText .leftside {

}

some classes could only be used for positioning and not have any "style" in terms of fonts and colors included. Would you want those to show as well?

Maybe send me a sample css style sheet and what you would expect to be the resulting styles list and I can try to figure out a way to add this feature in the future.

The styling paragraphs in the support documentation (via webassist.com support pages) begins:

"In the newest version of HTML Editor, the Styling tab has been enhanced to provide a much greater set of options for applying CSS style sheets to your HTML Editor instance"

I have never (personally) had a problem with adding the site styles to the Editor Interface, so that the input area appears to the client as it would on the final page.

The writers of this could have more accurately written:

"While some of the more useful functionality has been removed from this edition, we have added the capability of adding individual styles - style by style, property by property, in order to compensate for the removal of the ability to import styles directly from your site stylesheet"

Could you not have gone the whole hog and added the 'enhanced' bits as well as keeping (and further enhancing) the usefulness of the previous verion?

I would want the classes that I selected to be added.

I don't use templates when I build for clients, so the class names are whatever I choose them to be. I have now got into the practice of naming styles in a 'client friendly' way, if there is to be a CMS or any RTE facility in a client's admin. The actual appearance of the class is also demonstrated in the style select list itself. A somewhat large proportion of the people likely to be editing in HTMLEditor will be sighted, and will see the styles.

I am mindful of this as I build a site. If a class is nested, then I would add the secondary class (.xxxxxx .yyyyy) as a class in its own right as .yyyyy. Whether the class was originally nested or not would be irrelevant.

I have also in the past created a separate stylesheet (copy paste) with just the styles for the select list in the editor. But now I have to enter each style - style by style, property by property all over again.

We'll add a feature in the next dot release so that the import button from the styles interface will allow you to import styles from your css files defined by multiselecting from a list. Thanks for the feedback.

Glad to see WebAssist are listening to customers - looking forward to the dot release update. I agree with Neilo, it was misleading and considering version 2 of HTML Editor allowed you to import styles directly from a stylesheet I'm hoping you get the update out sooner rather than later.

I fully agree with Ian and neilo. I look forward to have Html 3 with the capability to import Styles from Style Sheet, as we had with Html 2. I took for granted that this capabilty would be enhanced with new extension
