paypal APIs

i am trying to grant API permissions in paypal for powerstore. site is hosted on a third party server so paypal is asking for me to enter API account username and asking me to select my API acces level? it says to contact the cart solution provider tp get this? how do i find this out?

do not select the "Grant API Access Option", instead, you should select the "Request API Credentials" option.

See the "Signing up with the PayPal payment gateway" tutorial on the learning resources page:

2 options

paypal gives me two options for requesting API credentials.

option 1 is for if powerstore is hosted and managed by a third party.

option 2 is for if powerstore is hosted on my own server.

-my powerstore is hosted on a third party server so i have selected option one and before paypal will grant my API credentials it is requiring an API account username which paypal says i request from the shopping cart solution provider which would be yourself?

your interpretation is incorrect.

Use option 2 for if powerstore is hosted on my own server.

hosting

the server isnt my own though? ive paid for hosting from a hosting provider so do i still use option 2? if this is the case then this is fine to grant the API credentials as i have already done this and received the permissions on friday and placed them into the payment settings in the admin section of the site but customers are still unable to pay through the site and no records are being saved from customers attempting to purchase through the site? Will this now be an issue with paypal?

you need to select the "Request API Credentials" option, not the "Grant API Access Option".

Do not use the api details from the "Grant API Access Option", this will cause transactions to faile.

use the API details from the "Request API Credentials" option.
