Show Shipping

Hi,

I'm trying to figure how to show shipping cost on the cart page when an item is added to the cart and when customer is not logged in.

I would like for customers it see the shipping cost disappear when the free shipping amount is reached, also when they are not logged in.

Is this possible?

Thank you.

Yes, this can be set up in the shipping tab of eCart.

You can use the triggers:
Subtotal For Entire Cart Contents:
If the subtotal price for the cart is ">" a value of "0"

AND
Subtotal For Entire Cart Contents:
If the subtotal price for the cart is "<" a value of "50"

this would trigger the rule if the cart subtotal is less than $50 offering free shipping after that amount

Hi,

What happened is the i unchecked the show shipping when calculating sales tax, so it would not show. When customers preferred to see the shipping on the cart page when they add each item, i rechecked the box, but it would not show shipping unless they are already logged. This is what is happening now.

well, your shipping rules are based on the eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_country session variable which wont get set until the checkout page posts to the confirm page.

since you are basing the shipping on the eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_country session, you wont be able to show shipping till they go through the checkout page.

Hi Jason,

I understand, but is there a way to fix this for us shipping only, or other other idea's? Is this no way to make this right - base it on ip location maybe somehow?

Thank you,

there is no way to know the shipping location until they enter it on the checkout page.

the only option would be to set up a generic shipping rate that is displayed if the session is not set, but it wont be a valid shipping rate.

basically all of my customers are from the US at this, so this may be the way to go...

would i do that through the shipping tab as a new rule? And would it also show the taxes should they apply?

Thank you.

yes, you would create a new rule using the trigger based on session variable value, leave the comparison value blank.
