importing to database

I already have a mailing (MySQL) database of about 1300 records. Is there a routine to transfer the relevant fields into the PowerMessenger database? Your publicity only refers to individual sinlge registrations.

You would have to use SQL to transfer the records manually. Most mySQL admin programs come with an import utility that you can use to quickly match the corresponding records and do an import.

No PowerMessanger does not have any functionality to import users from another table, you would need to do this manually in your MySQL Management interface such as PHPMyAdmin, Sequel, or SQLyog to name a few.

Just out of interest, is it a simple case of uploading the emails, password and name into the pm1_users table and also adding the user id to the pm1_GroupSubscriptions table? Must admit, it would be very useful for a import button from Excel or something. From what I've seen and used, it's very good!

We don't have tutorials on that topic available currently... however it should be possible with a properly formed SQL statement or two. If you post your current users table structure and a description of what you are trying to do I might be able to give more specific information.

If you have a excel file, check out this link:
csv2sql.evandavey.com/

I have used this to move cvs files into mysql easily... might solve your issue

importing

Thanks for all the advice, but I was not explicit enough.

I know how to import into one table (I use EMS Studio as my MySQL Manager), but I don't know how this application structures its database. A lot of applications (e.g. phpBB) split the data relationally and introduce many additional specific fields. If PowerMessenger does anything like that, then a simple import will not work.

I don't want to buy a licence and then find it's no use to me. I'll stick to GroupMail if that's the case.

I'm afraid the pages on the WebAssist site don't say very much about how it works. I like to be able to read the Manual.

If this message was for me, sorry. I was just trying to give you an option on how to get a csv file into mysql, assuming you have access to mysql. Just trying to help.

The database structure is very simple and should be relatively easy to import into. The users table is very straight forward and doesn't use any concatenated or even encoded data, and the subscription groups are managed with a simple relational structure.

Can we see a screen shot of the DB table? That would help us know if our current DB will work. Or perhaps you've already provided this and I've over looked it.

I am very interested in this product. I have others I use and they are great, but not so great to hand off to client use.

Thanks
