Powergallery in local machine mode

Powergallery in local machine mode

Is it possible to run PowerGallery v1.x in local machine mode, i.e. without long-term sign-up to a host or need to upload images.

There are a number of reasons I cant commit to a hosting plan at the moment.

What I would like to do is host images on a local drive and emulate gallery set-up and full functionality.

When I'm able to publish externally I'd then move things across as a block.

I use Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).

Many thanks.

yes, it is possible to use power gallery locally if you have a local testing server installed.

see our learning resources page for details on installing a local testing server:
tutorials.php

when you wish to upload to the remote server, you would need to export the local database using PHPMyAdmin or another MySQL GUI Tool, then import it to the remote server, and edit the power gallery database connection file to use the remote mysql server.

there are a number of tutorials for exporting a database using PHPMyAdmin around the web, here is one of them:
mysql_export.htm
