Manual Swipe & PowerStore

Thread began 1/07/2010 12:50 pm by keithlogan347721 | Last modified 1/07/2010 1:56 pm by Office Guy-172461 | 939 views | 2 replies |

Manual Swipe & PowerStore

I'm going to be using PowerStore for a new store. My client already has a hand terminal in their shop to take debit and credit card payments from customers in store.

Is it possible for PowerStore to take the credit card number etc so that they can manually put the payment through the terminal that they already have? This would then save them needing another merchant account.

Thanks in advance.

Storing or emailing credit card information is not recommended and often illegal. That is why payment gateways exist, since they have gone through the legal processes to secure their databases. You should never do this on your own database, unless you have already gone through that process, which is quite costly. I would suggest setting up a payment gateway in this situation.

This would then save them needing another merchant account.

Many gateways (i.e. PayPal) have a "Bring your own merchant account" service. You only pay for the gateway part of their service and use your existing merchant account.
