Password encryption

I read in the help file about pasword encryption but since on a SA regisstration page there is no recordset how do I set the password to encrypt? I did not find an option in the wizard to use encryption.

Nick

"SHA-1 Encryption

Data encryption for passwords is applied directly to the recordset being used to insert or update the password information in the user table in the database.

This can be accomplished in the Bindings panel by binding the Password value from your recordset to the form element making the update, and with that binding still selected, choosing SecurityAssist > SHA-1 Encryption from the Format column.

If making the encryption association in a server behavior or the SecurityAssist Wizard, you can also use the Data Bindings window to make this selection by associating the SHA-1 Encryption format to the recordset binding:"

On the registration page you would want to apply the encryption formatting to the posted password value since the value will not be coming from a db. The process is the same, you would just use the password value from the form bindings rather than the recordset.

????????

I have read everything I can find on the the Webassist site and stillam unable to follow these directions!

I"ve built a registration page using Security assist> I want the password to be encryped. When I go tot he bindings panel and select the password field ther is no option to format.

I think a tutorial is in order here.
BTW I'm using CS5 on a mac.

There is no format option at all see the attached image. I have also attached the registration form.

So I also found the format option in the property inspector. Highlighted the password field, went to bindings and bound the the password field to the field in the form. Then opened the "init value" in the property inspector, selected the SA encryption option and DW crashes.

In order to set the formatting to sha1 you will need to update the insert server behavior that is on the registration page. You will need to replace it with a DataAssist insert so that you can apply the formatting to the binding. This is shown in the following Solution Recipe video for modifying the registration page:

You should also take a look at the other parts of the Solution Recipes and documentation that is available on the support page:
