site assist & datassist tutorials

I am trying to build an online search facility for qualifications and training which will have a user admin area so that training providers can add their own items of training.

For practice I have followed the tutorial for siteassist using the administrator-all templatetemplate and then used data assist wizard to create pages using the blue_sky_music db.

The initial problem I encountered was in trying to open the created pages where I got the following error message in explorer when trying to open items_search.asp;

Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0141 (0x80004005)
The @ command can only be used once within the Active Server Page.
/trainingportal/Items_Search.asp, line 16

this was due to the following line of code

I noted that <%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%> had been added to the first line of code. if I remove the codepage 65001 line then I can view the search page in explorer....the same applied to other pages re codepage5001.

after removing as eplained above I could search for products and view results and details. However I experienced another issue when attempting to update or insert.

If I click the update button I get the following error;

Error Type:
ADODB.Command (0x800A0BB9)
Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another.
/trainingportal/Items_Update.asp, line 9

pointing to this line of code;

WADADynListItemCategory_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_connBluesky_STRING

and when I click insert I get the following error after adding new product details and clicking insert;

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.
/trainingportal/Items_Insert.asp, line 38

which points to the following line of code on the items_insert.asp page;

can you please point me in the right direction

can you send a copy of the Items_Search.asp and Items_Update.asp pages so I can examine the code to get a better Idea on the cause of the errors you are experiencing.
