Can we have a Slideshow option.

Can we have a Slideshow option.

Hi, the default PowerGallery is great. Very nicely organised, and I especially like the drag and drop feature to move image positions. Is it possible we can have a SLIDESHOW button so when clicked the gallery runs through the pictures with a couple of seconds delay after each image? I can do some php coding if I'm pointed in the right direction . Kind Regards, Mark

Hi markqley,

I seem to remember reading on another thread that this suggestion has been noted and has been submitted for consideration on a future update.

Thanks neilo. It would be a great feature and I would welcome the upgrade. Does anyone know of a way to achieve this in the meantime? My client is wanting this feature as soon as poss. Thanks again. Mark

My guess is that if this was easily implementable, it would have been done. Hopefully someone has more to offer than this.

There are other options out there, but few have the easy management capabilities that this has.

One that does have management, is Slideshow Pro (example), but by the time you have bought the components, including the management system (Slideshow Director) and the flash plugins, it is quite an outlay. You also have to pay for a licence for each site that SSP Director is placed in.

By comparison, this system is incredible value. If and when auto advance is implemented, I can't see anything out there to beat it.

So as far as your client is concerned, it is a choice between spending a wodge of cash or hanging on.

It isn't too difficult if you are familiar with javascript and Moo Tools, which we used to create the gallery effects.

probably the most difficult part would be figuring out a logical place in the desing to initiate, pause and such.

Really if you use milkbox over slimbox that wil pretty much do it, and if you were familiar with moo tools that might make sense to you... ;)

Milkbox would work well to make a slideshow from the popup, making a slideshow in the page would require a little more cusomization.

We'll definitely be adding these features in the next major release if not sooner for instance in a dot release of new designs.

Did this help? Tips are appreciated...

Cool. I foresee this being the most popular gallery solution available.

It does indeed!

For anyone who's interested, I had a video made of myself presenting all of my uncanny predictions. (Available on Betamax™ only, $2.99)

I just threw out my clunky Betamax machine... darn it! If only Sony would have never made the technology proprietary.

if you're interested, and can't wait, there's a good mootools slideshow called slideshow 2 with lots of support and effects.

Its easy to set up, works with static and dynamic data, and each image can be associated with a hyperlink.
