Can you overwrite a file not in a database?

Can you overwrite a file not in a database?

I have files being uploaded using digital file pro that are renamed if the file exists using the increment feature. The problem I am running into is that after the file is renamed it no longer exists in the database, however it still exists on my remote folder. I am working on a page to update any file on the remote folder but since the renamed files do not exist in the database it does not overwrite a file when one with the same name is uploaded, rather it does an auto increment. Basically what I need to know is there a way to overwrite files with the same name that do not exist in a database and how.

Disregard. The digital file and data assist work fine for this. I had the wrong file name after the form action= .
