Checkout wizard problems

Hi, i am new to this software, but do have some exp with databases.

I FINALLY got through the "add button" on my pages causing internal server failures......
2 days to figure out everything has to be in the main directory ....they all work now...anyway
now the next wall i am hitting is the checkout wizard. It goes through the process fine....but when i'm testing checkout live on the internet i get to the part where you fill out your name shipping info ect...when i click on checkout..ANOTHER internal service error comes up. I am using Dreamweaver 8, .asp pages.
I am sure this would have to be SOMETHING SOMEWHERE in the database, but i am brain fried.....can you give a few suggestions as to why the wizard "did'nt complete the job"?
I am using Paypal - Standard...no shipping right now...simple....the database connections all test fine....

How is your database configured?

do any of the columns in the Orders or order Details table contain reserved words? A list of reserved words can be found here:
286335

and here:
321266

The error you re reporting is a very generic error. Are you testing using IE? There is a settings in IE to "Show Friendly HTTP error messages. Turn this off and you may get a more descriptive error that will help in trouble shooting the problem. Or you could try testing in FireFox.

Databse problems

I used your tables from blueskymusic, i did'nt change a thing in them, i just populated your table with my items...they are imported into my database.
i have spent ALL day testing...my logs are full....

i have not gotten anywhere with this issue. I finally sent test pages to my server host....ever since i installed the extensions nothing works....I can't get a simple insert text form to insert one field of text into a simple 2 column table. one page will work, the next won't.....random and baffeling. would it have anything to do with ecart possibly inserting code if the extension is'nt turned OFF? I'm at a total loss as to what to do.
I'll post what my host says, until then i quit!

Host replyed

ok, my host replied, they had several suggestions. one was to NOT use MS Access for internet databses. Several problems with them. So i migrated all my tables into MS SQL on the server. everything switched over and working smooth as silk.....no hangups, no HOURS of trying to get rid of that "Internal Server Error" message.....(MS Access on net - pain in the A***ss)....ok problem one solved - no more random errors.

problem two still not solved.

i re-did the checkout wizard with the new sql db.......
still no go.

any starter suggestions on eliminating the problem?

which is problem 2? What is the problem you are still having, looking through the thread history, I cannot see which is problem 2. Please briefly describe the problem so I can be on the same page.

sorry,
Problem two is:
the checkout wizard goes through all the stages and creates all the pages. When i load them and try them out, once i get to the checkout page and fill out the shipping info form and hit checkout......i get the Internal server error message from the confirm page .

any suggestions Where should i start ...?

The reality is the error "Internal Server Error" is extremely unhelpful. You should check with your host to see if they can enable more friendly errors or look into the server logs to tell what the true error is. until we now the real error that is occurring we are flying blind.

If you are testing in IE, try testing in FireFox, it may give a better error message.
