Editing Contact Page

Hi,

I have need to edit the contact.php page in order to change text and add a link, but when I open it using Dreamweaver CS4 I note that it does not look like the page when seen through a browser. The graphics look O.K but the text is in narrow windows.
Is there a way to get "what you see is what you get" graphically, or am I supposed to hard code any changes ?

Regards

Dave

This is part of the problem of using advanced layout techniques on a page that you would like to edit in DW. The ability of DW to correctly render the css and display it like a web page is limited. You can try using the Live Data view to see if that helps you but in my experience it is best to preview the page in the browser when making edits like this to ensure that your changes are correct.

Editing content page

Hi Eric,

Thanks for that, but I am not sure where it leaves me. Presumably there must be recommendations of how I change the dummy content, or to be honest what is the point of having a nice looking site full of dummy data, that you can create in minutes, but that you find difficult to change the dummy data?

No doubt I am missing the point - what does everyone else do ?

Regards

Most people use a testing server:

You just press F12 to preview the pages. If you leave the page open while you edit, you can just refresh the browser to instantly see the results of the change.
