Surveyor 1.0.5 Dot Release Available

A dot release for Surveyor is available in the Download Center of our website. Log in and visit downloadcenter.php. Click on Surveyor and download the mxp from the Extensions section.

It is best practice to uninstall your current version before installing the new version.

The main fix was the JavaScript error that occurred when attempting to edit an existing site map from the the Site Tools panel.

We also corrected an issue that prevented context-sensitive help from opening on Windows systems using Safari as the default browser.

javascript error remains

Hello,

I am using this version and continue to have the same error. Is there a way to fix this?
Also, Surveyor will not scan my whole site, it causes Dreamweaver CS4 to freeze. I have deleted the cache file and reinstalled the extension many times. Please let me know what information I must give you in order to help me solve these issues.

If you have deleted the cache file and still have problems then there might be a corruption of your configuration folder. Here are the steps you will need to take to resolve this issue:

showpost.php?p=12293&postcount=2

If after going through these steps you still have the issues please let us know so that we can look into this further.

Thanks, but

Thank you for your help. It seems to be working better now, just taking a long time. My site is big.
I have another question:
It says 'Pages in queue: 63615'
I know there aren't nearly that many pages on my site. Is this telling me that I have that many?

Again, thank you for all of your great help.

more information on issue

I just realized that Surveyor is currently crawling an area of my site in which I do not have access to, our shopping cart. Could this be creating the issue? We outsource our shopping cart, so I don't know much about it.

This could definitely be a cause of problems, if the cart is hosted on another domain and your site links to the pages it will try to crawl those pages on that domain as well.

Any advice?

We are wondering if there is a way to leave that chunk of the site out of the crawl? I don't seem to even have the ability to see what order the site is being crawled.

Local folders

In order to keep from scanning the shopping cart data, we have decided to use our local folders instead of the roaming. Are there any drawbacks to scanning this way?

No, they should produce the same result if the pages are the same. Do your local files link to the external third party cart? If they do then you will likely start crawling that site again as well unless you choose to make a site map of specific pages that you choose.

There are other ways to limit the pages, do you know if the type of pages your cart uses are different from the other pages types in your site? For example, if your site has .php pages and the shopping cart has .aspx pages then you could tell surveyor to ignore the .aspx pages. Also under the links to follow section you can specify how many levels deep the pages will be crawled. These settings might help you limit the size of the site that Surveyor is crawling.
