read only?

Why is it that when I extract this product and start working on it in DW, every single file is locked and I have to manually make everything writable? Am I missing sonmething?

Not sure why that is.

You could always open the main folder, Edit > Select all > properties > uncheck the 'read only' box and click Ok.

On the message box that opens, select the option to 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolder and files'.

Takes about 10 seconds. Am aware this doesn't answer your question as to why their initial state is set to read only.

Many programs for creating zip archives set the Read Only bit on the files as the zip is being created.

In Dreamweaver, you can right click on the main folder and select the Turn Off Read Only option.

Yet another tip that I have been oblivious to for ever.

Nice one, thanks.
