shipping costs way off

I'm using USPS to ship all my products, why would a 1lb item be $20 shipping? How and what is the best way to troubleshoot shipping quote issues?

go to the tuffys section under toys and add for example a jr. bone.

Just tested from another browser so my items may be getting cached, however once I add it to my cart it says $5 for shipping which sounds about right, but after I enter my payment information it doubles it to $10?? Any ideas?

How you are you shipping charge rules configured? You should have to enter the shipping details before the quote can be properly returned. If you have a shipping charge present before you do this then it may be from another rule you have in place. Please post back and explain what shipping rules you have in place and how they are working. Also explain a little more about when the shipping price changes for you. When I tested this out it had a shipping of $4.90 for me.

Thanks Eric, you must have looked after I figured it out, there was one rule set for get shipping quote from USPS and then two others, one that would add a $1 and another that would add $4. So that was where the extra money was coming from.
