color and sizes

I am in the process of making my last few pages which have toy's that will have four color options for each toy. Should I enter in four entries of each toy in the item table of my database each with their different colors then sort on their category ID via the recordset?

Or should I have a table called colors and call from that recordset? I will be running into the same problem when I do my dog leashes page and they will have 8 different colors and different diameters and lengths.

If you have any suggestions I an open for any ideas.

Thanks for the help,
Tim

When you say the first two stopped working what exactly are you experiencing on this page? Do you have a link where we can test this out and see the result you are reporting? This would be most helpful to understand what the current issue is.

Hi Eric,

Sure you can go to bnb-tuffys.php, the top row (Jr. Tuffy's) stopped working after I put in the Ultimate row. It's weird.... Also, for second part of my question about organizing the database and select lists, you can look at bnb-timberwolf.php, you can see the sizes and colors from their links to see the fun that awaits me, can you give me suggestions how to handle this as well?

Thanks Eric!

Tim

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but on the page you posted a link to I can add items from either part of the page. I'm including a screen shot of the cart after I add the items.

As for the leashes you may want to set it up just like you have for the toys page but also have the sizes.

If you have not come up with a solution for either I think the best thing to do would be to create a separate table for the sizes and one for the colors. If you have items that will only have specific colors and sizes then you should make a joining table that has a column to hold the id of the item and the id of the size or color. You should have one of these for each table, size and color. Please post back with any more info on any part of this or if you just have some questions.
