HELP! Digital File Pro and form validation

HELP! Digital File Pro and form validation

Hello. I'm using Digital File Pro uploads with the progress bar. I have set the upload to trigger on form submit. But if I extend the form with a simple javascript form validation (tried with jquery $('form').validate() ) and the verification fails, instead of showing the error the progress bar shows and stalls... How can I successfully use file upload with the progress bar and at the same time use standard client side form validation techniques?

Thank you for any suggestions! Joa Palmér

On this page with the new validation applied where and how is it implemented? I think that the progress bar will display after the form is submitted, so you may need to add in your validation code so that the form does not submit when it fails. If you can post back with the page or more info about the validations we can look into it further.

As I'm using a standard way of validation I can't see how I can control which script runs first... I have a simplified code at uploadtest.php

If you select a file but don't fill anything in the text field the progress bar shows and you can do nothing. Happy for suggestions!

I'm not too familiar with the type of validation you are using. It seems that if you can conditionally include the progress bar script that is being referenced in the head then you should be able to delay execution of the progress bar until the validation is successful.

OK. I might be able to do that. But I've also tried other validation techniques. Can You please suggest at least ONE technique that doesn't crash with the progress bar?

As the progress bar is jquery-based, I thought the jquery validation would be a good idea? And also it's so simple!

Using the Validation Toolkit you can apply server validations that will not trigger the progress bar. This way if a value is not entered or does not pass validation the user would just see the page refreshed with an error message on it for them.

The idea is that you would apply the server validation to the page, then you would add in your message to the user that you would like to have appear when the validation fails. Once the message is on the page you select it and use the Validation Show If server behavior to display the error when the validation fails, this will also prevent the page from doing any further processing.
