admin update option problem

admin update option problem

I had 3 options on my products:
color
monogram
pocket

I wanted to change my default value for theses options.

My options had values
monogram
no monogram
monogram
pocket
no pocket
pocket

every time I tried to change my "no monogram" to default, it changed my value on the pocket option (to what I did not want as my default). I finally deleted on of the options and re-entered it and all is as I intend. Am I doing something wrong when I try to change my default value? Why was it affecting another options default value?
Thanks,

Lisa

When you change a default value for one of the options, it is actually loading a new product which does not have the other two options that you have specified which is why the other option was changing for you. If you wanted to change the default product, you will need to change the default value for all your options that you have for that product.

clarification

OK, I am not quite clear yet, I had a product temporarily named 1/4. Now I want it to be named 1/4" double-braid leash. I click the "update all options" button then click "update". This should ensure that my edit changes the product name for any variable, correct (ie. all leashes in this product catagory should now be named 1/4" double-braid leash)? I am wondering if I did not refresh in the admin side to see my changes implemented.

Thanks,

Lisa

Yes, if you checked the update all option check box then all options under that product will be named the same. But it won't update all products under that category. The update all options will only update all the different product-options combination you have under one Product.

Let me know if you still have any more questions.
