Trim Request.QueryString

Hi there,
I need to insert a new record into a database and I am using the WA-DA "Insert Record Wizard. I am not using a form and using a post page. Wen I am done with the wizard the database gets updated with the following text: "Trim Request.QueryString("Last_Name")

The database should have had a new record stating something like this:
Table column [Last_name] with a value of "Fred" and not the literal text of :Trim Request.QueryString"

Try running the insert and checking what gets inserted into your database. That code should be what inserts the dynamic name field into the database for you.

How are you inputting the binding to the variable? Is it by clicking on the lightning bolt symbol next to the value input box and selecting the variable you want it bound to?

Thank you

Hi there,
I am using the "WA" Wizard and I am manually typing in the Trim(cStr(Request.Form("fields_email"))).

If I use the Lightning bold then the only thing I get is the database fields and "server" components. Their is no listing for Request.form or request.querystring.

There should be an option if one would like to use querystring or request.form functions. I do not know if this is available in the Data Assist software however if you have a form post on 1 web page and you would like to have code generated for the "DO" page ( the processing web page ) Data Assist should be able to generate these web pages for you. Especially for inserting data into a database ( via a record set ).

Thanks again for your help.

You will have to add the form or querystring bindings on the bindings panel that is built into Dreamweaver. After you do this, you can use the lightning bolt to bind the variables to the DataAssist insert values.

There might be an issue with the QueryString Binding wizard, so you can also use the Dreamweaver built in URL Variable binding to get values from your querystring. Sorry for the inconvenience.
