auto insert date on Store Cart Summary in DB

Good Morning,
I've encountered a problem with the function STORE CART SUMMARY IN DATABASE:
I need that a field with type "date" have to insert the actual date "on data submit". I'd like to know which code I have to use to obtain this result,I've tried with php echo (date("y-m-d"); but the type changes automatically from Date to Text and all the fields are regularly recorded in the DB except the field "date".

Thanks in advance
Best regards

I would recommend using an INTEGER column in your database then inserting <?php echo time(); ?> into that column. That will insert a unix timestamp, which is very easy to format using PHP afterwards. You can use the date() function to format the timestamp however you want.
