backround images

I am trying to create a navigation menu with the menu writer. I don't know if its something I am doing wrong, but this is beyond frustrating.

When I am editing the width of the buttons, it never fits within the div or table. If I have a div or table that is 800px wide for example. I create 4 buttons at 200px each, and it never fits. it always wraps the last button on the right.

Also, when changing the background image, it never fits like its supposed to. If I have a button that is 200px wide, and an image that is the same width, it never fills the button completely. There is always extra space to the right or left.

All this seems like simple math to me, but it never works out like that.

PLEASE HELP!

I am using Dreamweaver CS4

This may have to do with padding, spacing and borders. There are default padding and borders applied to the menus, which will affect the width of the menu. You will have to either change the width of the menu items to accommodate for these or change the padding and borders to accommodate for the width of the menu.

To change the default padding, click on the menu and Edit Theme in the properties inspector. In the box tab of the interface, you can set the padding to 0. To change the borders, you can click on the Design tab of the same interface.
