filter list/menu

i have 2 list/menus which are linked, and would like to filter the content of list 2 based on what i chose in list 1.

i did this with a little js script a while ago, but i can't find or remember what i did.

grateful for a nod in the right direction

The Dynamic Dropdowns extesnion can be used to accomplish this. Have a look at the Dynamic Dropdowns getting started guide:

Hi Jason,

i looked at this briefly, but the example seemed a bit more complicated than i needed.

i'm sure there was a simpler way, but i'll persevere

Yes, the example demonstrates some other functionality of dynamic DropDowns that you wont need so much.

For your scenario, you need:

A recordset to populate the Parent list
A recordset to be used by the Create Dynamic Array server behavior.

The Parent list and the child list

Set the Parent List to be dynamic and pull records from the first recordset you create

Add the Populate List From Array behavior to the onChange event of the parent list and target the child list.

Craig,

if you don't mind getting your hands dirty with a bit of JavaScript you can do this pretty easily with jQuery I have an example here index.html where I keep little code examples to remind myself how to do stuff !

Just view source and all should be obvious.

Thanks for the tip Dave, I'll keep the link in my bookmarks.

I have just got the dynamic dropdowns working ok too.

Things are looking up !
