update validation

update validation

Hey Ray

On the attached page there is an update form allowing a user to update some details plus their password.

In firefox 59, if you hit 'update' without changing any of the entries, it always redirects to loggedin.php?invalid=1 and shows the error 'passwords do not match' This does not happen in chrome

also on this page, how would I go about showing a message based on the successful update of the page?

Cheers

Jamie

The code looks fine. I'd have to debug it to see why it is doing that. Hypothetically there shouldn't be a difference between browsers, so perhaps it has something to do with your specific browser settings or saved passwords causing the conflict.

To create a success message you can set your update redirect to something like loggedin.php?saved=1 and then show the message based on the $_GET['saved'] variable being set.

ok thats great thanks Ray

now on this page, have got the success message sorted.

however, now if you try to update the page and it fails, the success message still shows although nothing has been updated as the url now looks like this on failed update: loggedin.php?invalid=1&update=2

Change your <form> action to:
action="loggedin.php"

That should keep it from carrying the url parameter forward.
