temporary password issue intermittently not working

I've set up a page to issue existing users with a temporary password, which is emailed to them and they can then login and change it. However, it doesn't always work and isn't writing the temp password to the database, which of course means the user gets an email with no password given. Could you possibly take a look at the page for me and advise what I've done wrong? I can supply FTP details.

I could try to figure it out, but really I'd probably need to figure out how to reproduce it. If you follow the exact same steps it should happen every time. If you just attach a copy of the.php page I can start by looking at that.

Hi Ray, that would be great thanks - see attached. It doesn't work at all for some users, other users tell me it works the second time but not the first, and for me it works most of the time but not always!

Your update code is after your email code. I'd start by moving the code from lines 166-206 up above to line 78.

Also it appears your update is updating from the FORM submit, but it is set into the session. So on line 177 you have:

php:
$WA_fieldValuesStr = "".((($_POST["temppw"] != ""))?WA_HashEncryption($_POST["temppw"]):$row_SecurityAssistparausers["user_pass"])  ."";

I think it should probably be:

php:
$WA_fieldValuesStr = "".WA_HashEncryption($_SESSION["randompw"])  ."";

I don't have a copy of the email body, but that should write the value:

php:
<?php echo($_SESSION["randompw"]); ?>

for the temporary password as well.

Thanks Ray, that's working fine for me so will check it's working for our client as well!
