Trying to sort msyqli recordset with the GET parameter

I know that Data Assist doesn't work yet with mysqli, however, I tried to manually add this and have come up with the following :

$rsProds = new WA_MySQLi_RS("rsProds",$con,0);
$rsProds->setQuery("SELECT * FROM products ORDER BY ? ASC");
$rsProds->bindParam("s", "".((isset($_GET["sort"]))?$_GET["sort"]:"") ."", "ProductName"); //sortby
$rsProds->execute();

But this doesn't work.. neither for the default value of "ProductName", nor the GET parameter. Just curious what I can do?

You can't use a parameter in a SQL statement in place of a column name. It has inherent SQL Injection protection that prevents column names from being passed in.

There is a class for adding sorts in the rsobj.php file that you could use, or you could add it into your SQL directly.

I have done so in the past with mysql. For instance, "SELECT * from table sort by " . $_GET[sortby];

This has worked fine in older coding...

I'm afraid I don't know enough to modify the rsobj.php file and I've tried adding into the SQL directly and it seems to cause errors.

Actually, I got it working...

$sortby = isset($_GET['sort']) ? $_GET['sort'] : 'ProductName';
$prodquery = "SELECT * FROM products ORDER BY " . $sortby . " ASC";
$rsProds = new WA_MySQLi_RS("rsProds",$con,0);
$rsProds->setQuery($prodquery);

Thanks!
