mysqli authentication fails, can no longer login to cms

Is it possible that, due to security settings on the hostprovider, the authentification on the cms pages fails?
I can no longer login to my cms pages. In other websites on other servers the login forms and authentication work fine.
Php version on the server: 5.4.45

I'd have to debug with FTP access to be sure, but it is possible that it is a bad php.ini setting for the session_save_path variable preventing session variables from being stored.

Thanks for your quick reply. If you want to debug, great! I don't know what else to do...

It appears to be an issue with the session_save_path in your php.ini file. I created a test page to demonstrate the problem. You can show that to your hosting provider and they should be able to resolve it for you.

Your answer has been sent to the hostprovider. Hopefully tomorrow the cms is accessible again.
The problem is solved!
