links going straight to 403 page

Hey Ray

Have a site thats dynamic pages were working, but now any page that is mod_rewritten goes straigh to the 403 page and i cannot figure out what is going wrong/changed and I dont knwo what I should be looking for to troubleshoot.

If you click on any of the news links on this page you'll see what I mean: http://www.independentsday.co.uk/news.php

have attached the htaccess file (as a txt) and the newsarticle.php page

your help greatly appreciated.

It is acting like the mod rewrite isn't running at all. It thinks you are referencing a folder and then redirects to 403 page. I think it is a server configuration issue of some sort. The problem isn't on the newsarticle.php page since you can access the page with a modified link without problems.

The .htaccess file appears to be ignored.

I tried stripping the .htaccess file so that it only had the one rewrite rule and the issue still persists.
I even tried just doing a very simple rewrite rule and it doesn't appear to work. so it has to be a configuration issue of some sort.

thanks so much mate. appreciate you taking a look.

I overwrote the site files with a back up from a couplem of weeks ago and that seems to have fixed the 'issue' - still have no idea what was causing it
