Lost connection to Power CMS

Hi there,
The CMS has been added to this site for years and was working without problem...but a few days ago - for some reason, we've lost connection to the database - although nothing has changed - no settings altered etc.
I made some minor changes to the html pages on the site (not all pages have the cms) but nothing to the connection.
BUT I've noticed the htaccess file has been wiped sitting at 0kb. Problem is I'm not sure what was in this file before - would it hold a command for the CMS and thus be the reason why its not working?
if so - whats an example of the htaccess file to make this work please? (I'm not great at the technical coding stuff, sorry!)

Thanks in advance.

That is not an issue with the .htaccess file. It is a database connection error which means your username, password, database name, or database server is incorrect in the Connections/PowerCMSConnection.php file.

Open that file and see if you can spot the issue. It is possible that someone updated the server and changed or removed the database user, or sometimes hosting providers will even move database servers.
