How to use the checkout wizard without payment processor

How to use the checkout wizard without payment processor

Hi,

I am trying to use the checkout wizard to generate all the checkout pages. The first thing I have to choose is a payment processor. We don't want to use any of the payment processors, since in Germany electronic payment is not very common. We would like to receive the orders, send out a bill, receive the money via bank transfer and then send out the products. Known customers would receive the products first, and then pay the invoice.

How do I create the checkout pages without any of the suggested payment processors?

After giving it a lot of thought I have come to the conclusion, that I probably do not need to use the checkout wizard at all. I mean, our customer aren't paying online. Would that be a correct assumption?

Would it work then to simply put another form on the shopping cart page, where the customer fills in his name and address, and have that forwarded to our email not with a checkout button but a submit button?

That is correct. You will not need to run the checkout wizard to setup checkout pages if you are looking to collect payments without using a payment gateway. You can setup a button to email the information to you instead of checking out. You will have to get the information for their shipping address at another time if you are shipping goods to the customers.

Hi Jimmy, thank you for your time.

You said "You will have to get the information for their shipping address at another time if you are shipping goods to the customers. "

Can't I just add a the text fields for the shipping address to the cart page, and then with the submit button send both the shipping info and the order info?

I'm sorry, what I meant was you will have to add an additional form to get the information, either on that page or later on in the process. Adding the fields to the cart page should be fine as well. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you Jimmy. I am confused, but that is not your fault. I guess every beginner is somewhat confused. I will add the extra form to the cart page. Makes my job much easier :) Then I won't even have to deal with another table in the database for the customer info.
