How to combine google recaptcha with insert record using MySQLi

I have a working "sign up" script that inserts a record and moves them on to a thank you page, but I need to add some sort of captcha element, as I am having some unwelcome entries.

I added the code for Google recaptcha, but it still lets people through without validating. I was wondering if you could give any advice on integrating the recaptcha into the insert record code on the page, or recommend an alternative to Google?

I don't see recaptcha added to the page, so I can't comment on what could have been wrong with it. It should be possible to implement using the recaptcha code examples from Google.

We offer a captcha tool with DataBridge that would be possible to use as well.

Google ReCaptcha and Insert Record

Hi Ray,

Thanks for coming back to me. I had to take the page down because it was getting hit by spammers. I have put the link to a page showing the form with the Google reCaptcha added in a private message.

When I submit the form, the form performs perfectly, inserting the record and moving on to the correct file, but the reCaptcha is ignored. I believe I have everything in place for the reCaptcha (the correct link to the google javascript in the head and the recaptcha code in the body which shows up on the screen).

Is the form taking the insert record action before the reCaptcha can be confirmed? Or have I missed a step on the reCaptcha?

Thanks for any advice you can give. I am lost as to what to try next

You have to add php code to verify the recaptcha value. See: https://github.com/google/recaptcha/blob/master/examples/example-captcha.php

You have added the code to show the captcha, but missed the step of checking its value and showing any errors.

I just wanted to say thanks for helping with this. I'm learning so much and loving the product!

I fixed the issue you highlighted, and also worked out I had to place the insert record code within the actual reCaptcha code, hope that makes sense.
