Load results page with no results visible unless search criteria has been filled in.

What is the best method for having the results page load with no results? I don't need a separate search and results page for my application. A basic if the recordset = 0 statement??? I don't want to screw anything up!

You can add "WHERE 0=1" to the Recordset SQL statement in an IF statement when you want it to load with no results.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you give me an example? Thank you.

This is my query: SELECT * FROM papers ORDER BY Category;

Please see PM...Clearly something is wrong.

Since you are using Database Search, you can set the default where clause there instead and don't have to mess with an IF statement for the recordset itself.

Not sure I understand. Where does the "where" clause go in the search wizard? Thanks.

Please attach a copy of the results page and I can reference a line to change it in the code.

From the UI, one of the first fields is "Default Where Clause"... that will be used if no search has been done. You can just enter "WHERE 1 = 0" and it will not return any results until a search has been performed.
