Captcha is not working ---

Thread began 9/05/2015 1:18 am by michaelf0199272 | Last modified 9/08/2015 11:17 am by Ray Borduin | 1723 views | 10 replies |

Captcha is not working ---

Before I applied CAPTCHA my form send works. But after I applied CAPTCHA, first it will send even if CAPTHA entry is not correct. Then I applied the "validation if condition" --- the enter CAPTCHA test field is not even showing on the form any more.

Q: How can I make this for to route and work correctly.

You applied the validation show if around the field where you enter the captcha value. You should be applying it around a message like "your entered text didn't match" and not around the field itself.

Your Server Validation is set up wrong. You are using "Required" validation and should be using "Like entry" validation to compare the session value to the value entered through the form.

I believe I may have resolved all the issues except that the "validation show if" message is not being parsed at all. I need it to show and if possible in red fonts so the user will know what he/she did wrong.

Q: Is this something you can help me with?

Thanks.

Attach a copy of the page and I can try to figure out what you did wrong. Showing it red or bold is just a matter of applying the appropriate styles once you have it showing at the right time.

It looks like you may have applied and removed the server validation a couple of times and it is now out of sync with the show if code.

The server validation is using the variable: contacttest2_654

But the show if is referring to: contacttest2_285

This inconsistency is the issue. Do a find/replace for one with the other and it should fix the problem.

your observation does not seem correct --- perhaps you looked at the prior file send and not the current file sent. everything is consistent --- contacttest2_285.

please see the attached image.

please ignore earlier update --- I found the inconsistency, I looked for contacttest2_284 instead of contacttest2_654. Now I am not sure which one should be replaced with the other.

I have implemented the suggestion that you gave me and everything seems to be working correctly.

Last question on this. Q: how do I make the error message texts red?

Thanks,
Michael

I think I screwed it up again --- now it just placed the error message on even before the security is entered. All I did was try to add color to the message.

Q: what did I do wrong?
