The SecurityAssist GUI will not accept a connection - insists on using "none". Clicking on "Done" will not accept the connection, which tests successfully.

Security Assist has not been updated to work with MySQLi. You will have to use the MySQLi Authenticate User Server behavior if you want to use MySQLi connections for a login page.
If you continue to have issues we can set up a screen sharing session to help you debug it. Just post a phone number in the private area and I can give you a call to make sure your problems get resolved.
So there's a possibility my issues are occurring because I have older and newer versions of different WA extensions installed and I am cross-using them? Perhaps I simply do not understand what Webassist is providing and what their uses/differences are - - Data Bridge vs. MySQLi? Should I remove Data Bridge, since it seems to be non-compatible with MySQLi?
Is there EVER going to be a WA release that one can install to singularly replace Adobe's deprecated server behaviors?
The MySQLi Server behaviors singularly replaces Adobe's deprecated server behaviors (however they still need to be installed because it uses the database connectivity layer, server behaviors panel, and bindings panel that are otherwise missing from the dreamweaver installation).
DataBridge enhances the standard MySQL server behaviors adding more functionality that didn't exist in Dreamweaver before, but it hasn't been updated for MySQLi yet.
You should always be going to the server behaviors WebAssist->MySQLi folder to apply any MySQLi functionality. Any other UI access points are likely to generate MySQL code.
