I updated the site so that if you go to the admin and update a Category, you will be able to specify a custom page instead of the default category results page now.

Can We Re-Direct Main Category Pages to My Custom Category Pages?

Hey Ray

Excuse my ignorance, but I find the Check Box a little ambiguous, "Use custom page in place of standard results". When you check the box, does that mean the page will not be indexed? Does it mean it will be re-directed to a specified page? Will it mess with the sub-categories of the category?

If you go to our site: http://ginelectronics.com , you will find that the side bar on the home page, as well as all other pages, predominately points to our own main category pages that are made in the pages/navigation section. The links on these custom pages will point to the sub-category pages created in the categories/sub-categories section. Therefor, the main category pages CAN be found by the search engine, but NOT from navigating our site. Hence, I either want the search engines not to index the main category pages, or to re-direct them to my pages made in the pages navigation section. (sorry for being loquacious). Thus, what will happen if I check the aforementioned box?

P.S. We made our own Side Bar Also...

Checking the box will just update the link in the navigation. It doesn't mess with sub-categories or effect the indexing of the page, it is really just an update to the link in the navigation (both top and side).

I understand your request now to also make the pages redirect if navigated to directly. I'll work on that for you.
