Indexed Pages

Hello

I am not sure if I should be taking your time asking this of you, and I apologize if this is beyond your scope of assistance. But I have pages of our site that are indexed, but are almost 10 years old and have never even been on part of our CafeCommerce site. This page http://ginelectronics.com/custom/1-phoenix-gold-component-video-cables.htm is indexed in Google, although Blank now, it used to be a page in our site YEARS ago. Where is Google getting this from? If our site is hosted by you, and this page is not on our site hosted by you, shouldn't it be dropped altogether? Anything I can do about it and also find out how many of these old pages are still floating around?

If a page is gone, google will eventually realize it and remove it from results. It looks like Cafe Commerce wasn't properly identifying removed pages and letting google recognize it as gone. I've updated the code so that google should recognize and remove it soon.

If you find one you want removed more quickly you can tell google to remove it manually as well:

Good to hear. Thanks...

I'd like to think I am done bothering, but I don't want to cry wolf.

Although I've been a pain, I think CafeCommerce it better off with the changes...

Thx again for all your help...

Hey Ray

Is the update you made retroactive, that is, does it imply to older pages that have been deleted already? I can pull up a lot of old URLs that pull up on the web as blank page with our heading. I created a new page, then deleted it, and THAT page would not pull up on the web, which leads me to believe your update may not affect old pages. Our site is about 350 pages and Google has 1800 indexed...

Can you give me a few example URLs? I can look into it.

Indexed Pages

Hey Again

Here are examples of probably over a thousand- compiled over the years. With headings and titles, I am not sure what is considered duplicate content.
https://ginelectronics.com/categories/intercom-systems ,http://ginelectronics.com/categories/home-theater-speakers,http://ginelectronics.com/categories/home-theater-speakers/audiosource,http://ginelectronics.com/categories/home-theater-satellites-and-subwoofers,https://ginelectronics.com/categories/intercom-systems/video-door-intercoms,http://ginelectronics.com/categories/volume-controls/?page=2,http://ginelectronics.com/categories/home-theater-speakers/ja-audio

I could go on , but you get the picture. Also, there are also some old pages that are showing up with content that was not part of the original, thus still being indexed because Google thinks it is an active page , like:http://ginelectronics.com/categories/receivers-amplifiers/microsmith-ir-booster-systems the page used to be for IR booster, which we no longer carry. Now instead of being inactive, it us showing amplifiers. There are quite a few like this also.

I wish there was a way to have Google do a re-index, but I have read all over and found nothing :(

Anyway, not sure if there is anything you can do on this, but they thanks for your time anyway...

I've updated the system to better recognize removed categories, and sub-pages. I think that covers the examples you have given.

Thanks. Does the update includr product pages like http://ginelectronics.com/product/scp-14-awg-shielded-plenum-fplr-cable

How long until this takes effect and does cover old pages that have been deleted?

Google should start re-indexing pages immediately. It could take several weeks though for all of them to be updated.
