The cart is empty

I have been following the tutorials at
http://www.webassist.com/tutorials/Add-a-shopping-cart-III-eCommerce-Series

I have pages products_search.php products_detail.php
also
cart
confirm_cart
confirm
checkout
checkout_failure
checkout_success
all .php

When I search two items show in products_results.php
If I click on Add to Cart the page reloads but remains unchanged.

If I open cart.php I see "The cart is empty".

Can you suggest why the cart remains empty?
Should the cart open when ""Add to cart" is pressed?

Many thanks
John

It sounds like your add to cart server behavior isn't applied correctly. When it is applied you can set it to go to the cart page automatically... this is a pretty typical user experience but not the only one available.

If you send us a copy of the page you are working on we could give more insight.

Thanks Ray
I will do some more work on this and see how I get on.
I also need to get the front end administration built and wondered if there are some tutorials available for this you could point me to.
Regards

John

The pages that I am looking at are created in Data Assist Create pages.

The results and the detail pages have an Add to cart button but these do nothing when clicked..

There is a link at the top of the results page which is connected to the details page.

Is there a method to connect these add to cart buttons to the ecart?

the add to cart buttons generated by the data assist wizard are place holder buttons only.

you need to delete them fro the page and add eCart Add to cart buttons to add the Add to cart functionality.

see the Add a shopping cart II tutorial form the eCommerce series for details:
