Sorry if this has been asked and answered.

Is it possible with WebAssist tools to create a field into which I can either type a value (and have it saved to a database table) or select an existing item from a drop-down menu?

For example, in "DataAssist: Create Pages," when saving, you can either type in a new "schema" or select from the list of existing schemas.

No, Data Bridge does not have native support for a data list like you describe, you would need to hand code this. you should be able to find examples through google. here is one example i found:
