Separate server validation messages for one field?

Separate server validation messages for one field?

Hello there - a quick question for you I think!

I have a field which has "Required" validation applied to it and I have since added a "Unique Database Value" validation..
This seems to have combined the two validations into one and tied both to the same serverInvalidState message.
Is it easy to split the validations, hence having one "Required" message and another if the "Unique Database Value" fails?

Here's the code;

<?php
if (ValidatedField('kbcustomersinsert','kbcustomersinsert')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("kbcustomersinsert","kbcustomersinsert").","), "," . "4" . ",") !== false || "4" == "") || (strpos((",".ValidatedField("kbcustomersinsert","kbcustomersinsert").","), "," . "5" . ",") !== false || "5" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?><span class="serverInvalidState" id="customer_email_ServerError">Please enter a full Email Address</span><?php //WAFV_Conditional kb_customers_insert.php kbcustomersinsert(4,5:)
}
}
}?>

Many thanks

This should do the trick:

<?php
if (ValidatedField('kbcustomersinsert','kbcustomersinsert')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("kbcustomersinsert","kbcustomersinsert").","), "," . "4" . ",") !== false || "4" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?><span class="serverInvalidState" id="customer_email_ServerError">Please enter a full Email Address</span><?php //WAFV_Conditional kb_customers_insert.php kbcustomersinsert(4:)
}
}
}?>
<?php
if (ValidatedField('kbcustomersinsert','kbcustomersinsert')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("kbcustomersinsert","kbcustomersinsert").","), "," . "5" . ",") !== false || "5" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?><span class="serverInvalidState" id="customer_email_ServerError">Unique DB Error</span><?php //WAFV_Conditional kb_customers_insert.php kbcustomersinsert(5:)
}
}
}?>

Spoke too soon!!

That works fine but the second (new) message is visible when the page is loaded - is this because the id="customer_email_ServerError" is the same?

This code can't work for both maybe?

onblur="hideServerError('customer_email_ServerError')

Thank you again

Start with a new browsing session.

Messages will show on page load if validation has failed before.

validation state is saved to a session, so close the browser completely to start a new browsing session.
