PowerMessenger install blocked by permissions issues

PowerMessenger install blocked by permissions issues

Bought a license of PowerMessenger today - thanks for the opportunity.

Installation into MAMP is blocked by file permissions issues. All other wizard checks are okay. Screen shots attached.

I have used the Mac's Get Info to put write permission on the PowerMessenger folder in htdocs. The install remains unhappy, again as displayed in the screen shot.

Thanks for the help, David

Just checked the tutorial.

http://www.webassist.com/community/tutorials/view_tutorial.php?tid=175

It speaks of PM 4. Since the download from my purchase today is PM version 1.0.2, is the tutorial 'PM 4' a typo? Or have I got a much earlier version, in my download …

As always, thanks.

Yes, that is a typo in the tutorial, the version you have is the latest.

You need to set write permissions for the folder that power messenger is in.

Thanks, Jason.

The enclosing folder is of course htdocs, in MAMP. htdocs already had Read & Write for admin. So I then 'applied to enclosed items (cannot be undone).'

Unfortunately, the same permissions error, as in the screen shots above, continues to block the wizard.

Of more immediate concern however: I am concerned whether I may have opened up an exposure, by putting admin Read & Write on all folders and files in all my sites in htdocs. Can you advise?

I can 'restore' from Time Machine. But of course I need to do that as quickly as possible, since I cannot work on MAMP files in those sites, until such a restore is completed.

Then we can address the ongoing unhappiness in the install wizard

Thanks for the help, David

Please provide a Skype username or a US phone number and a good time to contact you when you will be in front of your computer and we will have an engineer contact you to resolve this issue over the phone.

We are available Monday - Friday from 9am - 4pm EST (except major U.S. holidays).

Thanks, Jason. Now it seems I will be out tomorrow, Tuesday. Will be back here I think Wednesday and come to this thread, then, to set up a time.

As of Wednesday:

The schedule has not been kind, nor will it be tomorrow, Thursday. So - so that you know - looking at Friday. Back then.

Thanks, David

Oct 9, a week later:

Please do excuse my absence. The usual demands …

I succeeded to resolve the issue with permissions on the htdocs contents (basically, restored from the Mac's backup, Time Machine).

What remains now is to get through the PowerMessenger wizard so that it is functional. Quite looking forward, since we will be needing this capability. But will return to get that done when the schedule here eases up a tad.

Will be back then, with Skype user name and options for times that work.

Thanks. Looking forward to then. David
