Code violation invalid markup

Hi Jason, hope I'm not taking too much of your time with trivial questions, just curious about things

I've applied a repeat region on a list with Australia (13) as the selected item - code below

<?php
while(!$rsCountries->atEnd()) { //dyn select
?>
<option value="<?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry")); ?>"<?php if (!(strcmp($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry"), 13))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("countryName")); ?></option>
<?php
$rsCountries->moveNext();
} //dyn select
$rsCountries->moveFirst();
?>

When I run a site analysis report on the page it comes up saying the markup is invalid

<option value="13"selected="selected">AUSTRALIA</option>
<option value="14">ARUBA</option>

Am I using a crappy MS validator or is the code invalid

Thanks for your understanding

Cheers
Norman

there should be a space between selected="selected.

change:
<option value="<?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry")); ?>"<?php if (!(strcmp($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry"), 13))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("countryName")); ?></option>

to:
<option value="<?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry")); ?>"<?php if (!(strcmp($rsCountries->getColumnVal("idCountry"), 13))) {echo " selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><?php echo($rsCountries->getColumnVal("countryName")); ?></option>
