Customizing the side menu on the pages, and the news plug in on the home page

I want to customize the recent news (actually remove it and replace it with my own plug in if possible) Or at the very least just get rid of the read more so you can add hyperlinks and just have one news block here.

I would also like to add a link to the main site ( at the top of the side menu -

You would need to edit the templates for your design for this.

in the webassist/themes/<your theme>/templates folder open the index.dwt.php to edit the news pod and page.dwt.php to add a new link in the side navigation
